I founded Steen, Party of Two with my awesome sister Jennifer. We started this company a few months after our mom died in 2019. Our mom was the consummate hostess, paying attention to details for every gathering she was part of. She had a passion and joy for entertaining, and we realized we had it too, so we started Steen, Party of Two (SPOT, for future reference). We were just beginning to network and build our business when COVID hit. BUMMER! Everything shut down; it was the WORST, right?!
During this time, my sister realized that she had a penchant for real estate, and wow, is she incredible at it! This meant I had to decide if I wanted to keep going with SPOT. I didn’t have to think long. I love entertaining people myself, and I love helping others create their dream event. It brings me such satisfaction to see the joy on my clients’ faces when they walk into their event space and it’s all that they dreamed of and more! What an awesome moment that is, and I knew that’s what I wanted to work for.
Fast forward to 2021, just as everything is starting to feel back to “normal,” I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. They discovered a tumor in my face, and it had to be removed immediately. It was Stage 3, yet it hadn’t spread, so this was great news! Get the tumor out and get on with our lives, right? Not so fast! In order to get the tumor out, they had to remove my entire upper jaw and teeth and my upper palate. Then I had radiation. I’m not going to sugarcoat things, it’s been an incredibly rocky road.
But with my faith in God, who has gotten me through this, and my incredible support system, I’m so thankful that I am here another day and so excited that I have the opportunity to bring joy to more people doing what I love. Let’s get started!
